hello everyone!
I have a dream that one day every vally shall be exalted, every hill and mountain shall be made low, the rough places will be made plain, and the crooked places will be made straight, and the glory of the Lord shall be revealed, and all flesh shall see it together.
Wow, what a dream it has been for Martin Luther King. But the changing world seems telling me that people gradually get their dreams lost somehow in the process of growing up, and sometimes I personally find myself saying goodbye unconsciously to those distant childhood dreams.
However, we meed dreams. They nourish our spirit; they represent possibility even when we are dragged down by reality. They keep us going. Most successful people are dreamers as well as ordinary people who are not afraid to think big and dare to be great. When we were little kids, we all dreamed of doing something big and splashy, something significant. Now what we need to do is to maintain them, refresh them and turn them into reality. However, the toughest part is that we often have no ideas how to translate these dreams into actions. Well, just start with concrete objectives and stick to it. Don’t let the nameless fear confuse the eye and confound our strong belief of future. Through our talents, through our wits, through our endurance and through our creativity, we will make it.
Hold fast to dreams, for if dreams die, life is a broken-winged bird that cannot fly. Hold fast to dreams, for when dreams go, life is a barren field frozen with snow. So my dear friends, think of your old and maybe dead dreams. Whatever it is, pick it up and make it alive from today.
Thank you!
Hello! everyone:
I’m a happy Chinese girl, My name is WangSiwen. You can call me Alice. Nice to meet you! My English name is Alice. Today is my birthday, so I’m very happy. I’m nine years old. I have a round face and a small mouth. My eyes are not too big and not too small. And I have long black hair.
My story for today is tadpoles mummy .
Spring comes. Tadpoles are missing their mummy. They want to look for her.
the family had just moved to rhode island, and the young woman was feeling a little melancholy on that sunday in may. after all, it was mother's day -- and 800 miles separated her from her parents in ohio.
she had called her mother that morning to wish her a happy mother's day, and her mother had mentioned how colorful the yard was now that spring had arrived. as they talked, the younger woman could almost smell the tantalizing aroma of purple lilacs hanging on the big bush outside her parents'back door.
later, when she mentioned to her husband how she missed those lilacs, he popped up from his chair. "i know where we can find you all you want, "he said. "get the kids and c'mon. "
so off they went, driving the country roads of northern rhode island on the kind of day only mid-may can produce:sparkling sunshine, unclouded azure skies and vibrant newness of the green growing all around. they went past small villages and burgeoning housing developments, past abandoned apple orchards, back to where trees and brush have devoured old homesteads.
where they stopped, dense thickets of cedars and ju nipers and birch crowded the roadway on both sides. there wasn't a lilac bush in sight.
"come with me , "the man said. "over that hill is an old cellar hole, from somebody's farm of years ago, and there are lilacs all round it. the man who owns this land said i could poke around here anytime. i'm sure he won't mind if we pick a few lilacs. "
before they got halfway up the hill, the fragrance of the lilacs drifted down to them, and the kids started running. soon, the mother began running, too, until she reached the top.
there, far from view of passing motorists and hidden from encroaching civilization, were the towering lilacs bushes, so laden with the huge, cone-shaped flower clusters that they almost bent double. with a smile, the young woman rushed up to the nearest bush and buried her face in the flowers, drinking in the fragrance and the memories it recalled.
while the man examined the cellar hole and tried to explain to the children what the house must have looked like, the woman drifted among the lilacs. carefully, she chose a sprig here, another one there, and clipped them with her husband's pocket knife. she was in no hurry, relishing each blossom as a rare and delicate treasure.
finally, though, they returned to their car for the trip home. while the kids chattered and the man drove, the woman sat smiling, surrounded by her flowers, a faraway look in her eyes.
when they were within three miles of home, she suddenly shouted to her husband, "stop the car. stop right here!"
the man slammed on the brakes. before he could ask her why she wanted to stop, the woman was out of the car and hurrying up a nearby grassy slope with the lilacs still in her arms. at the top of the hill was a nursing home and, because it was such a beautiful spring day, the patients were outdoors strolling with relatives or sitting on the porch.
the young woman went to the end of the porch, where an elderly patient was sitting in her wheelchair, alone, head bowed, her back to most of the others. across the porch railing went the flowers, in to the lap of the old woman. she lifted her head, and smiled. for a few moments, the two women chatted, both aglow with happiness, and then the young woman turned and ran back to her family. as the car pulled away, the woman in the wheelchair waved, and clutched the lilacs.
"mom, "the kids asked, "who was that?why did you give her our flowers?is she somebody's mother?"the mother said she didn't know the old woman. but it was mother's day, and she seemed so alone, and who wouldn't be cheered by flowers?"besides, "she added, "i have all of you, and i still have my mother, even if she is far away. that woman needed those flowers more than i did. "
this satisfied the kids, but not the husband. the next day he purchased half a dozen young lilacs bushes and planted them around their yard, and several times since then he has added more.
i was that man. the young mother was, and is, my wife. now, every may, our own yard is redolent with lilacs. every mother's day our kids gather purple bouquets. and every year i remember that smile on a lonely old woman's face, and the kindness that put the smile there.
ladies and gentlemen,boys and girls,
i am chinese. i am proud of being a chinese with five thousand years of civilization behind. i‘ve learned about the four great inventions made by our forefathers. i‘ve learned about the great wall and the yangtze river. i‘ve learned about zhang heng and i‘ve learned about zheng says the yellow river civilization has vanished?i know that my ancestors have made miracles on this fertile land and we‘re still making miracles. who can ignore the fact that we have established ourselves as a great state in the world, that we have devised our own nuclear weapons, that we have successfully sent our satellites into space, and that our gnp ranks no. 7 in the world?we have experienced the plunders by other nations, and we have experienced the war. yet, based on such ruins, there still stands our nation----china,unyielding and unconquerable!
i once came across an american tourist. she said,―china has a history of five thousand years, but the us only has a history of 200 years. five thousand years ago, china took the lead in the world, and now it is the us that is leading.‖ my heart was deeply touched by these words. it is true that we‘re still a developing nation, but it doesn‘t mean that we can despise ourselves. we have such a long-standing history,we have such abundant resources,we have such intelligent and diligent people, and we have enough to be proud of. we have
reasons to say proudly:we are sure to take the lead in the world in the future again, for our problems are big,but our ambition is even bigger, our challenges are great, but our will is even greater.
i am chinese. i have inherited black hair and black eyes. i have inherited the virtues of my ancestors. i have also taken over responsibility. i am sure, that wherever i go,whatever i do,i shall never forget that i am chinese!
Beggars are one of the most familiar groups in every city. They accompany us from our childhood until now, and I've found both the beggars and I change in this journey.
Years ago as a little girl, when I came across some old and disabled beggars on the road, I'd donate some pocket money to them, happily thinking I was helping.
s I have grown older, I've found the number of beggars has grown larger and they are more diverse. They appear in every corner of the city, on the overbridge, on the street, near restaurants, and even at your door. In contrast with the old days, it seems like the situation with beggars today is more complicated, which has made me hesitate before deciding whether to help them or not.
It's hard for me to give them money considering some who appear beggars in day time but dress up and go to fancy restaurants at night; and some who are controlled by some illegal organization and the money they get all goes to the organization. If I help them, I'd be making the problem worse, I'd be doing harm to the society, indirectly. But it's also hard not to give them money, considering there're real beggars who really need help. If I don't help them, who will? And where is my sympathy?
What hurts me the most is not how hard it is to distinguish the real help-seekers from the many false ones, but that some children are forced by adults, sometimes even their parents, to beg. They grow up despised by the world, out of mainstream society. When I see their eyes filled with desperation and impudence instead of purity and innocence, my heart sinks. We don't know how they will face the world when they grow up, how this will shape their characters, and what they may do to the society, to perpetuate this cycle of violence.
Months ago the Fu Jian government has promulgated a new policy to deal with 8 kinds of beggars. An internet survey shows that over 80% of voters reacted positively toward the policy. We know that one single policy cannot solve a problem as complex as this one, but we do look forward to some improvement. I wish all humanity can live like human.
Hi, everyone. As we all know, many great inventions have brought greatchanges to our life. I think we students can also invent something.
Today I'm glad to be here to talk about what I'd like to invent - a chairthat's good for students' health. It will be made of wood. There will be twosensors in it -- one on the seat, and the other on the back of the chair. Whenthe student doesn't sit straight, the chair will remind him .If he sits on thechair for over one hour ,it will make a noise. It won't stop until the studentstands up and leaves.
It will be a useful invention, won't it ?
Thank you!
but the first time that i took my book out of my suitcase, the coolest girl in the bunk came up to me and she asked me, “why are you being so mellow?“ -- mellow, of course, being the exact opposite of r-o-w-d-i-e. and then the second time i tried it, the counselor came up to me with a concerned expression on her face and she repeated the point about camp spirit and said we should all work very hard to be outgoing.
and so i put my books away, back in their suitcase, and i put them under my bed, and there they stayed for the rest of the summer. and i felt kind of guilty about this. i felt as if the books needed me somehow, and they were calling out to me and i was forsaking them. but i did forsake them and i didn't open that suitcase again until i was back home with my family at the end of the summer.
now, i tell you this story about summer camp. i could have told you 50 others just like it -- all the times that i got the message that somehow my quiet and introverted style of being was not necessarily the right way to go, that i should be trying to pass as more of an extrovert. and i always sensed deep down that this was wrong and that introverts were pretty excellent just as they were. but for years i denied this intuition, and so i became a wall street lawyer, of all things, instead of the writer that i had always longed to be -- partly because i needed to prove to myself that i could be bold and assertive too. and i was always going off to crowded bars when i really would have preferred to just have a nice dinner with friends. and i made these self-negating choices so reflexively, that i wasn't even aware that i was making them.
now this is what many introverts do, and it's our loss for sure, but it is also our colleagues' loss and our communities' loss. and at the risk of sounding grandiose, it is the world's loss. because when it comes to creativity and to leadership, we need introverts doing what they do best. a third to a half of the population are introverts -- a third to a half. so that's one out of every two or three people you know. so even if you're an extrovert yourself, i'm talking about your coworkers and your spouses and your children and the person sitting next to you right now -- all of them subject to this bias that is pretty deep and real in our society. we all internalize it from a very early age without even having a language for what we're doing.
now to see the bias clearly you need to understand what introversion is. it's different from being shy. shyness is about fear of social judgment. introversion is more about, how do you respond to stimulation, including social stimulation. so extroverts really crave large amounts of stimulation, whereas introverts feel at their most alive and their most switched-on and their most capable when they're in quieter, more low-key environments. not all the time -- these things aren't absolute -- but a lot of the time. so the key then to maximizing our talents is for us all to put ourselves in the zone of stimulation that is right for us.
Smoe people say that money is the best thing in the world. But I considerreading books as the best and the most precious thing one can ever have.
Reading books is very important. First of all, it is knowledge that makessociety develop and by reading books you can get all kinds of knowledge.Furthemore, reading books makes you a qualified person and makes your lifeenjoyable.
One is never too old to learn. No matter what time you rcalize theimportance of reading books, you can enjoy it during the rest of your life time.Love books, for they are your best friends.
My mother is 36 years old。She is a businessman。She is very busy everyday。She gets up eary and cooks the breakfast for my household。Then she goes towork at 7:30。Goes home at 12:00 in the noon。In the afternoon, she does not goto the shopping mall and bookshop。My mother ofter buys the useful books for me。Because she hopes me earnest learn 。A lot of time my mother is doing thehousework。 She can make very delicious supper。She ofter say;"I can makedelicious food for my dear daughter。
What a good mother! I will say to my mother:"Thank you, dear good mother! Iwill study hard and de a great people。
most people would like to be popular with others, but not everyone can achieve this goal. what is the secret to popularity?in fact,it is very simple. the first step is to improve our appearance. we should always make sure that we stay in good shape and dress well. when we are healthy and well-groomed,we will not only look better but also feel better. in addition,we should smile and appear friendly. after all,our facial expression is an important part of our appearance. if we can do this, people will be attracted to our good looks and impressed by our confidence.
another important step is developing more consideration for others. we should always put others first and place their interests before our own. it's also important to be good listeners;in this way people will feel comfortable enough to confide in us. however,no matter what we do,we must not gossip. above all,we must remember to be ourselves, not phonies. only by being sincere and respectful of others can we earn their respect. if we can do all of the above,i am sure popularity will come our way.
Everybody is good, the title of my speech today is "my dream"
Everyone have a dream, and is very good, I am no exception. I have a little dream, when I succeed at the goal, to accomplish more dreams. Beginning, I was a baby, a thought become very strong, like the children in the shaolin temple, martial arts high strength. But I think to leave my parents to far away places to practice martial arts, hard work, a little loathe to give up. During my childhood, I have a dream, I hope I have the money. Adults asked: "little girl, with money you are going to do?" "I'm going to buy bubble gum" "if you have a lot of money?" "I'm going to buy a lot of bubble gum" "if you have money to burn?" "I'll do buy bubblegum factory." Innocent childhood we, indeed, have a kind heart, happiness and happiness is a the same piece of music.
Slowly into the primary school, courses more and more deep, knowledge more and more... Will feel the pressure. Now I have a dream. I hope I don't have a lot of homework to do every day. Play a little deprived, and 40% of the day we imprisoned in the classroom, a lot of time in learning. But in the face of learning, is a kind of fuzzy knowledge. As the saying goes, "a rare confused," the understanding of things, from feudalism to capitalism, the greater the more feel that their views are right. After a busy day and night lessons every day home from school, he was sleepy and tired, no taste to eat food taken late at night. This life is very monotonous, maybe sometimes miss many of my primary school classmates, sometimes with a class or a pair of hazy sleep. Hate rigid school clothes, I never wear it everywhere. On Saturday, Sunday's time is very short, children really want to temper, slowly understand life's too hard, hard and dream ok, I will try to see everyone in to life and got up early to catch late, grasp myself no longer loose. I also want to strive for their dreams.
My speech finished, thank you!
A Young Idler,An Old Beggar
Almost everyone knows the famous Chinese saying:A young idler,an old beggar. Throughout history,we have seen many cases in which this saying has again and again proved to be true.
It goes without saying that the youth is the best time of life, during which one's mental and physical states are at their peaks. It takes relatively less time and pains to learn or accept new things in a world full of changes and rapid developments. In addition, one is less likely to be under great pressure from career, family and health problems when young. Therefore,a fresh mind plus enormous energy will ensure success in different aspects of life.
Of course,we all know:no pains,no gains. If we don't make every effort to make good use of the advantages youth brings us,it is impossible to achieve any goals. As students,we should now try our best to learn all the subjects well so that we can be well prepared for the challenges that we will face in the future.

Friendship is a kind of human relations. It is a human instinct to make friends. When in trouble, we need friends to offer us help, support and encouragement. With success achieved, we also need friends to share our joys.
Friendship is also one of the greatest pleasures that we can enjoy. It implies loyalty, cordiality, sympathy, affection, and readiness to help. No man can make the most of his life without carefully and conscientiously striving to win the right kind of friends as he goes along.

Recently watching American TV Dramas has become more and more popular with youth in our country. There are various kinds of reasons. Generally speaking, TV Dramas are suitable for the psychology of youth. The network technology will be developed as well at the same time. What’s more, it can make our spoken English well. Every coin has two sides, but it shows off a humanism, and spreads bad influences such as violence, etc.
I think the positive influences are more important than negative ones.
First of all, a number of American TV Dramas express duty, family, freedom, justice and love concept. It’s useful to develop youth’s recessive education. Only in this way will TV Dramas play a positive part and make up for shortcomings in political education. Next, it can broaden our eyes and knowledge and make us know what is different from home and abroad. With this method, we can know the western society. We’ll be affected by different culture ambience and ideology concept. Under the background of the whole world, knowing the cultures of western countries can promote each country’s communications well. In addition, In this process, TV Dramas play a role of bridge. Then, it will develop independent personality. America uphold particular concept and suggest their educational productions. Youth is the most energetic generation, encourages people show off personality and dares to break the outmoded conventions. It’s the prerequisite of innovation.
Finally, TV Dramas also help you face reality and surmount ideality. Nowadays, some youth always depend on others, such as their parents or friends. They also have idealism and is extremely conceited or inferiority. They often don’t find themselves in society, due to the influences of life education environment.
By this we can make a conclusion. No matter how hard it will be, we should always be free and try our best to conquer the enemy, just like the actors in the film. Another thing we have to remember is the great development of China. TV Dramas’ productions suggest the culture and psychological state of the country from some kinds of degree. It can promote our country’s economic development. Watching TV Dramas is a way to follow fashion. Therefore, everyone should work hard to make our country stronger and stronger. Through American TV Dramas, we should strengthen our duty and proud of our country. Let’s work together!
